Acknowledgments
No one achieves goals and accomplishments alone. On the contrary, those who claim to have succeeded on their own often overlook hundreds of factors, skills, and knowledge that can only be acquired within a community: language, social stability, transportation, the contributions of others’ work and ideas, and the positive influence of teachers, family members, and even strangers who, sometimes imperceptibly, have positively impacted our development.
This doesn’t negate the effort and dedication we ourselves have invested in our development; rather, it reinforces the idea that we are more capable when we cooperate with one another than when we compete. What we learn is shared, and in this way, others achieve their own goals.
Therefore, an exhaustive list of acknowledgments to everyone who has made this project possible is an impossible task; the list would be endless and incomplete.
But at least I will try to mention those who, in one way or another, have played a vital role in bringing Takoda Wahya to fruition:
A totally incomplete list
First, my incredibly capable sisters, Caro and Dani. Both of them, whom I admire completely, have been a bastion of filial love and have often provided material support during difficult times for me. Thank you both for believing in me all this time. I extend this to their partners, Basil and Elian, I love you guys.
Also to my best friend and cousin, Dama, who has been by my side through thick and thin all these years. Being a part of her life is an honor.
My aunt Liza and Joao, her partner, my aunt Owana, my cousins Sinuhe, Rody, and Tania. To my other relatives, thank you as well for the many other instances of solidarity and affection I’ve received. I have an exceptional family.
Friends like Carlos, Gonzalo, Linda, Víctor, Fernando, Julio, Cecilia, and so many others, who have believed in me.
To my elementary school teacher, Niselva Ramirez, and my high school teacher, Glady Hernandez, for being dedicated teachers, going above and beyond the professional realm.
